From heaven to her, a surprising start and instant takeover of my heart Each cell a roadmap of what’s to be Fingernail, eyelash, liver, knee A tiny seed too small for eyes Miraculously magnified Poppy seed, lentil, cherry, lemon Daily growing to watermelon Dreams and wonder, firsts and fates Hugs and giggles, could hardly wait
One minute strong, the heart with beat Then sudden silence, loud as grief Hair like chestnut catching the sun Rosebud fingers, ten of them A little whiff of mortal power Gut wrenching way to spend an hour How does a mother comfort one Who just lost her only son Hopes and heart both crushed to dust Never a love more painful than this
Is life again a myth and fable Illusive treasure in a pirate’s tale Grief is costly, trust is free What’s the risk to just believe The balm and solace to my soul Is knowing that he still will grow Because of Him who gives and takes Risen to conquer His own pain Her son will rise up from the dead And we will know him, As He Said.
